Texas Car / Permit practice question · Speed & Space Management
Another driver begins to pass you on a two-lane road. You should:
Answer choices
- hold your lane and keep a steady speed or slow down slightly— Correct answer
- speed up so the other driver cannot get around you
- move left toward the center line
- brake hard to force them back behind you
Why this is the answer
When another driver is passing you, do not increase your speed, and stay in your lane. If the lanes are not marked, safely move as far right as you can. Your goal is to help the other driver pass as safely and easily as possible, so speeding up, braking to block them, or moving toward the center line works against that.
