Texas Car / Permit practice question · Alcohol & Drugs
A can of beer, a glass of wine, and a mixed drink are compared. Which statement is accurate?
Answer choices
- Beer is so much weaker that several cans equal one mixed drink
- A 12-ounce beer, a 5-ounce glass of wine, and a mixed drink made with an ounce and a half of liquor carry about the same alcohol— Correct answer
- Wine holds the least alcohol of the three
- Liquor is the only one of the three that raises a BAC
Why this is the answer
According to the handbook, a can of beer holding 12 ounces, a glass of wine of 5 ounces, and a mixed drink using 1.5 ounces of liquor each carry approximately the same amount of alcohol. So each counts as one drink. Beer is not much weaker, wine does not hold the least, and all three raise your blood alcohol concentration.
