Texas Car / Permit practice question · Road Signs
A yellow sign posting a maximum height clearance (for example, 12 ft 6 in) is posted ahead. What does it mean?
Answer choices
- The roadway becomes narrower ahead.
- The overpass or structure ahead has limited height clearance.— Correct answer
- A traffic signal is ahead; prepare to slow or stop.
- A new lane is added ahead; merging is not required.
Why this is the answer
A low-clearance sign gives the height of the underpass above the road surface. If your load is taller than the number shown, do not try to go through. Know your vehicle's height before you drive under. The sign is not about road width, signals or an added lane, which have separate warnings.
