Texas Car / Permit practice question · Traffic Laws
On a multi-lane Texas highway, the far left lane is generally intended for:
Answer choices
- passing slower vehicles, so slower traffic should keep to the right— Correct answer
- trucks and buses only
- the fastest driver, who may block others behind
- parking during rush hour
Why this is the answer
The farthest left lane is meant for passing only, and slower traffic should travel in a lane other than that one. So on a road with several lanes going your way, you overtake on the left and keep right if you are going slower. A slower driver sitting in the left lane is the situation this rule is meant to prevent.
