Texas Car / Permit practice question · Right-of-Way

Two vehicles arrive at an intersection with no signs or signals at the same time. Which driver should yield?

Answer choices

  • the driver on the right yields to the driver on the left
  • the faster-moving driver has the right-of-way
  • the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right— Correct answer

Why this is the answer

When two vehicles reach an intersection at the same time with no signs or signals, the driver on the left yields to the vehicle on the right. Speed does not decide it. This is the same idea as at a four-way stop, where you go in the order you arrived, and a tie goes to the vehicle on your right.
