Texas Car / Permit practice question · Penalties & Licensing
A driver who is involved in a crash and drives away without stopping to give information is committing:
Answer choices
- the crime of leaving the scene, known as hit and run— Correct answer
- a minor paperwork error
- a lawful act as long as no police are present
- an acceptable choice when the damage looks small
Why this is the answer
If you are in a crash that injures or kills someone, you must immediately stop at the scene, or as close as possible, and stay there until you have given your name, address and vehicle registration number. Driving off without doing so is leaving the scene, a hit-and-run. Even in a crash with only damage, you must stop and report what the law requires.
