Texas Car / Permit practice question · Sharing the Road
A large truck ahead of you has its right-turn signal on but first swings wide to the left. You should:
Answer choices
- stay back and never try to pass on the right side of the truck— Correct answer
- quickly pass on the right before it completes the turn
- pull up alongside its right side to save time
- assume the driver is only changing lanes to the left
Why this is the answer
Trucks make wide right turns, and sometimes the driver leaves an open space on the right just before turning. Do not pass a truck on the right if there is any chance it will turn right. Watch for its turn signals, and stay back until you are sure what the driver intends to do.
