Texas Car / Permit practice question · Road Signs
While driving you see a round yellow sign with a black 'X' and two 'R' letters. What does it indicate?
Answer choices
- A railroad crossing is ahead; slow down and be ready to stop for trains.— Correct answer
- A traffic lane ends ahead; merge with the adjacent lane.
- Two-way traffic is ahead; oncoming vehicles share the road.
- A sharp turn in the road is ahead in the direction of the arrow.
Why this is the answer
Round signs are used for advance warning of railroad crossings. Slow down, look and listen for a train, and be ready to give way to one. Never stop on the tracks. The sign does not warn of a lane ending, two-way traffic or a sharp turn, which are shown with different shapes and symbols.
