Texas Car / Permit practice question · Handling Emergencies
You are stopped with a breakdown after dark. Along with your taillights and emergency flashers, you should:
Answer choices
- Aim a flashlight at oncoming traffic
- Turn on the lights inside the car— Correct answer
- Switch the headlights to high beam
- Hold the brake pedal down
Why this is the answer
After dark, a breakdown calls for emergency warning lights, or taillights if you don't have warning lights. In addition to those, turn on the lights inside the car so other drivers can see it. The handbook does not suggest aiming a flashlight at traffic, using high beams or pressing the brake pedal.
