California Car / Permit practice question · Traffic Laws
Before turning, you must signal continuously during the last:
Answer choices
- 50 feet before the turn
- 100 feet before the turn— Correct answer
- 200 feet before the turn
- Only as you begin the turn
Why this is the answer
Signal at least 100 feet before you turn, so other drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians have time to react. Starting your signal only as you begin the turn gives them too little warning. You should also signal before every lane change, and keep the signal on until you finish, then turn it off once it is no longer needed.
